My name is Whitney Vance and this is my sixth year teaching 2nd grade. I am excited to be the ELA (Reading) teacher to all the 2nd graders this year. I have also taught 5th grade. I am 30 years old and I have worked at North Cove Elementary since January of 2011. I am so blessed to be working with such wonderful students and staff here in the North Cove community. I graduated from Appalachian State University in December of 2010. I also attended Gardner Webb University in Shelby, NC.

            I was married October of 2011 on Crescent Beach in St. Augustine, FL. My husband, Blake Vance and I have a sweet little Shar Pei named Maggie. I grew up in Avery County and lived on a Christmas tree farm. I graduated from Avery High School in May 2006. I love being a teacher and I am looking forward to learning more about each and every one of you this school year. 

I enjoy watching basketball (DUKE) and football (PANTHERS). I love to read in my spare time! Family is one of the most important parts of my life, any spare time is spent cooking, reading, planting flowers, being outdoors, and hanging out with my family. We are very involved in our church and I adore music. My dream is to be able to work with dolphins, I LOVE animals!
